Making The Digi-Pac and Advert

Digi-Pac

To create the final digi-Pac I opened the CD cover template (above) in Photoshop and imported all of the images that I would be using. Next I checked the images and edited them where need be. I changed one of the images to black and white by adding a black and white filter to it found in the filter menu at the top of the screen. I then placed the images onto the parts of the template where I wanted them, changing the rotation so that the images would not be upside down when the Pac was printed.
Next was the text. For the title I used 'Garamond' and for the singers name 'Pristina'. I wanted to have the title of ‘Oxford Companion’ to have the beginning O and the last N letter as capitals. When added to the front cover image and spine of the Pac this worked rather well so I kept the text and font and moved it to where it would not obstruct the image behind.
The singers name is smaller than the title of the song and is placed below the singer on the front cover. It is in a similar font to the title. Both texts are white as it stands out from the black and white background but also seems to blend in with it. The colour and font appear ghostly as well which goes well with the song as the dead are mentioned and appear in the film.

Here is the final finished Digi-Pac.

Magazine Advert

To create the magazine advert the image of the guitar and props had to be photographed onto a white background so that it was easy to edit. As time was short I wanted to photograph it directly onto a black background but finding a big enough black backdrop became a struggle so I had to resort back to the white background and edit it in Photoshop.
The font I used for the title and the information is the same as the font on the Digi-Pac.
To edit the image I opened it into Photoshop and selected the white arrear of the image using the selection tool. Selecting the paint bucket tool I was able to fill the white area with black.
Selecting a new layer and the text tool I added the text and moved it to where I had planned it to be (top left of the image).
The final image looked like the one I had drawn out in the planning stage the only difference being that the final was more of a close up shot rather than a long rule of thirds shot.
